On average, a university sports scholarship student trains for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will compete 1-2 times each week.

By obtaining a university sports scholarship, a financial package will be provided that goes towards tuition fees, accommodation and other costs associated with the university lifestyle. In return, the athlete must represent the university for the duration of their stay.

Sports scholarship students are expected to study for an undergraduate degree during their time at the university.
